The Pagoda (now closed)

Kew's historic Pagoda was open to the general public for the first time in recent memory and afforded spectacular views across London.

Visitors could look out for

  • Battersea Power Station
  • the London Eye
  • the Wembley Arch
  • Canary Wharf

A Kew landmark, the Pagoda was designed by the famous architect William Chambers. It was completed in 1762 and was the tallest reconstruction of a Chinese building of its time in Europe. At 163 ft (nearly 50 m) above the Gardens and 253 steps up this is an experience not to be missed.

Climbing The Pagoda (until 29th october 2006)

Tickets

£3 per person or £3.50 with Giftaid

Tickets are available on the day for timed slots from 10am with last entry one hour before the Gardens close

Please note that the Pagoda is 163ft high and the top is reached by 253 steps. Although visitors do not have to go right to the top (there are views available to be enjoyed all the way to the top) some visitors may find the climb difficult.

The Pagoda is not suitable for children under 5 and there is no wheelchair access.
